Scientific Name: Pogona barbata

The bearded dragon gets its name from the spikes and scales around its head that resemble a beard. It is used as a defense mechanism to appear larger to prey.

    • Diet: Crickets, grasshoppers, worms, beetles, mice and some reptiles
    • Habitat: Dry woodlands
    • Range in the Wild: Eastern Australia
