Trick-or-Treat Among the Animals

Saturday, October 27 & Sunday, October 28 | Noon to 4:30pm Each Day

Trick-or-treat among the animals by visiting five candy trails sponsored by local businesses and non-profit organizations. Family-friendly activities throughout the Zoo, a costume contest, live animal encounters and a spooky forest inside the Nature Exploration Center await each SPOOKtacular guest!

Special Admission Rates

  • $5 per trick-or-treating child (children of any age receiving candy)
    Two adults admitted free with each paid child's admission.
  • Children 2 and under that are NOT trick-or-treating admitted free
  • FOSZ members receive $1 off each child's admission
  • Regular admission of $5 per adult applies to any additional adults and non trick-or-treating guests. FOSZ adult members are free.

Costumes + Candy Bags 

Wear your costumes - adults and kids! Have fun and be creative, just remember you're walking through the Zoo. You can even win prizes for top costume during the SPOOKtacular Costume Contest each day! And be sure to bring your candy bags to collect your candy loot.

Parking

Parking is available in the Zoo's main lot and the grass field to the side of the zoo. Community members can also park in Manhattan High School's lot, located at the corner of Oak and Westwood. It's a busy weekend, so please drive slowly and carefully.

SPOOKtacular is held rain or shine. No ticket refunds due to weather. NOTE: FOSZ members must purchase tickets in person to receive $1 off youth ticket discount.

Zoo Open Noon - 5:00PM, Event Ends at 4:30PM
          
  • ALL DAY: five candy trails filled with candy stations for the kids!
  • ALL DAY: Spooky Forest inside the Nature Exploration Center featuring kid-friendly activities
  • NOON - 2:00pm - KSU's Tap Dance Ensemble's "Tappy Halloween" Performance near Pavilion 
  • 3:00pm - Friends of Sunset Zoo's Costume Contest in Chautauqua Amphitheater 
Sunday, October 28
 Zoo Open Noon - 5:00PM, Event Ends at 4:30PM

  • 2:00 - 3:00pm - Special performance by KSU's Swingin' Spurs

As you're enjoying your SPOOKtacular adventures, hunger is a definite reality! The Zoo's Expedition Cafe will be serving up tasty treats both days from Noon to 4:30pm!
