Portal to the Public sites, like Sunset Zoo, work to bridge the gap between scientists and public audiences. We realize the need and desire from both scientists and the public to connect, yet both struggle with access to each other. As an informal education institution, Sunset Zoo can facilitate connecting both in meaningful interactions. However, to ensure these interactions are positive, Sunset Zoo provides science communication and public engagement training for scientists.
Trainings are regularly updated with new dates and new opportunities. Our signature training program, however, is the Science Communication Fellowship. This program is for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, and is a 10+ hour training program with one-on-one consultation and other support. Other one-time trainings are also offered to various groups of scientists. For more details, check out the various trainings highlighted here.
