Ring-Tailed Lemur

Scientific Name: Lemur catta

Unlike other lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs spend about 40 percent of their time on ground and typically live up to 16 years. While the move through the forest, their long tails help them balance.

Size: Average 5 pounds; 15 to 18 inches in length and their tail length is 22 to 24 inches

Diet: Omnivores & opportunistic; will eat fruit, leaves, nuts, flowers, insects, small reptiles, and small birds

Habitat: Only found in the southern and southwestern Madagascar forests

Conservation Status: Endangered
